CHARLIE DEIST – Author, The 50-Mile Man, Writer, Builder, Marcher
Charlie Deist is a writer, content architect, and founder of the 50-Mile March — an annual endurance event reviving the tradition President Kennedy challenged the Marine Corps with in 1963. He has completed five marches totaling 250 miles around the San Francisco Bay, and is developing a training program and book to inspire a national movement around physical culture in the western tradition.
By day, he runs content operations for an education company, where he built a production engine using Claude Code that replaced what used to require a full team — copywriter, editor, podcast producer, social manager. He also produces the Naval Podcast, and authored over 175 custom skills for content creation, publishing, and workflow automation.
He studied economics at UC Berkeley, has nearly a decade of experience as a podcast producer and ghostwriter, and lives on a 20-acre oak woodland homestead in Bangor, California, where he raises cattle, heritage pigs, and chickens with his wife and four children.
